Author's Note: My try for "Enter the Day To Night 9 - Haunted House Edition contest"
Be warned, I am a dyslexic and English is my second language. So errors may get trough my spelling. Odd uses of the language/grammar may occur.
I wanted the house and picture to have a doomed feeling... I am a total beginner with photo effects and being impatient, i read the tutorial and jumped right into it. I use Gimp 2.0 because I'm used to it from comic editing. I draw comics from time to time. This is the second try that took me about 1 hour and 20 minutes to do. The first try i just messed around with the colours until i got a freaky look, but all the mixing and matching made it too candied,and the contrast was to much. So i made this one, I hope its photo realistic enough.
There were ideas I wanted to do, but not quite sure how to do them. So here is a exploitation of what i did. First i played around with contrast and brightness. Removed the sky and made a black to red background. then i felt like I red clouds. Then i got the idea of what if fog is coming out of the house? So i used a various of brushes with little pressure to draw in the fog. I used grayish blue and white. Blue always felt more ghostly to me then green.
The moon was made from a white circle adding shadows and craters then blurred it.
