Author's Note: I had to shoot this on film because my digital is to old and cheap to respond fast enough to catch them before they buzz off to the next flower. So there I stood in a swarm of bees trying desperately to hold still to get the shot while they buzz around my head.
I had to do a reshoot since the shot the first day's just weren't sharp enough. I did get a slightly blurry face shot that broke my heart that it was too soft, it was a great shot at 4x6 but fell apart. This was shot at f16 and I couldn't go any lower with the old tamron sp 90 macro. It does go to f32 but like I said, shaking real bad in all those bees and had to keep the shutter speed up. The day before I was in the shade and at f4.
I never knew that the black spot on their backs is a bald spot, I thought it was black hair.
