Author's Note: Hummingbirds are magnificent winged creatures. So tiny and fragile, yet so athletic. They can fly up and down, back, and forth, and of course hover, changing directions in a split of a second. And while they fly, they make the humming sound like no other. I had dozens of them coming to four feeders I put up for them last year. The photograph shows one of my rubies - as I call them - a young one, in early August.
