Author's Note: Painters 'en plein air' know well how important is the right light. It was in June, last year that I visited Botanical Gardens in Kansas City, Missouri. The painter unfolded his easel on a small bridge overlooking a pond with water lilies. He was not paying attention to the passersby, he hurried to catch the light and put it on the canvas. The right light, the right palette, the right brush. The day was really hot even in Kansas standards for June.
