Photo - 2010 - Team

*There will be 5 rounds, each starting on a Thursday/Friday night at midnight Worth time (GMT-6)

*Submissions will last 10 days and voting will last 4 days.

*The contests will follow Advanced Arena ...rules, but be held in the [fotot] arena. Special rules for each contest may apply, so read them carefully before you brainstorm!

*Entries must be taken expressly for the Round (i.e. no shoeboxing) and may not be used later on in another contest. Given the traditionally niched nature of the Tournament themes, you probably wouldn't be given a chance to anyway ;)

*Each team must enter a minimum of four entries each round. Each submitting player can enter only one entry per round. Each player in the team must over the course of the tournament enter a minimum of two rounds and a maximum of four. A team unable to complete a round with the minimum of three entries (for example due to disqualification) will have the missing entries counted as a 0 score.

*Each team is strongly advised to elect a captain and co-captain who will lead the team and make final decisions on which entries are submitted. The position is not mandatory but teams with strong and experienced leadership usually fare better competitively. Teams are welcome to work according to their own model though.

*The brainstorming and critiquing process before submission is done within the team as a whole. In contrast to previous years, there are no restrictions on who may see the entries within the team.

*Team members must reply to all communication within 48 hours unless the team agrees otherwise. Admins will replace you no matter how much we like you, and any won tourney trophies will be removed. Remember you can use the multi-person PM feature to start a private thread for your whole team conveniently in your Inbox! You're also welcome to start a google-group or whatnot for your team if you prefer that (just make sure it's protected from spies ;)).

*Your entries must be paid for; if you cannot afford to play, please make sure you have a sponsor. You may not post in the forum requesting a sponsor. Instead a sponsor list will be posted in the photography forum of people who are willing to sponsor entrants.

*You enter a round like any other contest; simply submit to the contest posted in the [fotot] arena. You do not need to select your team, as this is done automagically. You can track your entry on your own stats page, while your team stats will reflect the standings after the contest closes for voting. All players are encouraged to vote and it is now impossible to vote on entries by your own team.

*All questions regarding the theme should be addressed in private message to meerkat only. If your question is about a "grey area" please include photo examples, as all calls are made on the merits of the actual photograph.

Lastly, this tourney is about having Fun. As such, please respect each other and especially the team captains who have a hard job deciding the strategy for the team.

Photo - 2006 - Team Tournament

* There will be 6 rounds each starting on a Wednesday/Thursday night at midnight giving everyone a weekend and a good part of the week to come up with their entries. The Tourney Contests are considere...d Advanced contests and abide by those rules, though special allowances or limitations may be listed in the rules for each round.

* Voting will last 7 days. The team at the end of each round that has the highest average score, will take that round. At the end of the tournament, the team that has won the most rounds takes the tournament. If there is a tie, of the tying teams, the one with the highest score takes the tournament. Gold, Silver and Bronze Team Tournament Trophies will be awarded to Most Valuable Players of each round, ie: First, second and Third place.

* Each member should enter a minimum 2 rounds. It is the captain and 2nd in command's job to round these people up.

* Each member may enter a maximum of 4 rounds

* Each team should enter at least 4 entries per round, no maximum.

* Each team member may only enter 1 entry per round.

* Team captain chooses what enters the contest. His decision is final. The reason may be quality, how much on theme the image is or simply strategy. (all entries in each contest count toward the final average score, so strategy is important)

* The team members themselves upload the entries, after word from their Team captain. Don't forget to choose the Team you're representing from the drop-down box on the left on the Upload page. Also, check the comments box when you upload.

* Special circumstances allowance: Each team's captain may appoint one (1) bonus shot to a team member or him/herself if it's probable that the 4 entry minimum will not be met. We don't want forfeits, we want funky fotos. Therefore some member may have 2 images in a contest instead of one, or more than 4 entries in the entire contest. We're counting on the fairness of the Team captains to only use this recourse when it is pretty evident you will not be able to make the minimum 4 entries and not to replace a weaker shot by a member.

* Entries must be taken expressly for this contest. You may use them later on in a regular contest, but we want fresh unseen work for this contest.

Five-Area - 2009 - Team Challenge: Crush

(Please note that Anni was brave enough to play in two teams, and therefore the stats for those two teams are slightly skewed as a person can only be put into one team. The overall tournament result ...is as it should be.)

The first step in this Multiple player multi-area contest is a Photograph.

Each Photographer will take a picture (B&W or Color) that represents the theme. Each will then email their picture to their respective Illustration teammate (as well as their text and effect teammate - to give them a jump start on ideas). NO SHOEBOXING. All photographs must be taken during the submission period.

The illustrator will then create an illustration(B&W or color) based on the photograph. The Illustration must be based off the photograph. Any element(s) of the photograph may be used in the illustration but it must appear obvious what photograph the illustrator used to create their drawing. The illustrators will then email their illustrations to their respective text teammate (as well as their effect teammate - for a jump start on ideas).

The textor will then write 1000 words (or under) based on both of the visuals they've been sent (the photograph and the illustration). They can write exactly what they see as happening in the picture or what they think happened prior to the picture or what happened right after the picture or if the photo and illustration differ, they may use their text piece to explain the change(or describe how the sequence of photo/illustration happened..ex: the photo is a picture of a swing set, the illustration is a child on a playground swinging..the text piece can be a story about the child going to the playground and finding the playground empty and deciding to swing), but it must relate to the pictures! The textors will then email their pieces to their respective Multimedia teammates.

The MultiMediator(hey, it so is a word) will then put the story to audio and add any sound effects or noises/music(of their choice that add to the pieces that have already been submitted.) Once completed they will send it on to their Effects teammates.

The Effects person will then create an image using all four previous elements in any combination they choose but they must use an element from all four(you may assume from the audio some element of it) of the previous parts (photograph, illustration, text, and MM). The object for the Effector is to create a collage, using their teammates entries as parts of the whole. (They may add an element to bring all four of the previous elements together..a personal touch so to speak.)

All parts will have 7 days to complete! If you finish your part early..please send it on to the next teammate in the lineup to give them a little extra time to complete their part. All contests will go up for voting on the same day.

Your team will have FIVE WEEKS! From start to finish this will complete in 35 days. (sooner if everyone will post the amount of time they'll need to complete their part. I can add or subtract days from other teammates depending on each area's time needs..please be honest and upfront about your time constraints.)

The team with the highest collective total (from all five contests) will be the winner.

Bragging rights only.
